At Innovate Summer Academy, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. Our industry visits are a defining part of the programme, giving students first-hand exposure to the professional worlds they aspire to join. Set in the heart of London at top-ranking University College London, Innovate blends academic study with real-world application through visits to leading organisations, universities and cultural institutions.
One of our most popular returning visits is the Royal College of Surgeons. Each year, students with an interest in medicine and biomedical science take part in the Surgical Discovery Workshop, where they explore surgery in practice. Guided by consultants and retired surgeons, students learn essential skills such as knot-tying and suturing, discover the history of surgery, and gain insight into teamwork in clinical environments. This hands-on experience consistently inspires students and brings their academic studies to life.
Alongside the Royal College of Surgeons, Innovate students visit organisations such as Agribot (AI in Agriculture), Mixed Reality Rooms for immersive marketing, and Io FinNet in FinTech. Law students attend live hearings at the Royal Courts of Justice and the UK Supreme Court, while all students benefit from university visits to Imperial College London, Oxford, and Cambridge.
With over 10 industry visits and workshops and 15 faculty-led visits built into the programme, Innovate connects theory to practice and helps students make informed decisions about future study and careers.
